“Richard has been tutoring my son who is a year 8 pupil in maths for the last 5 months or so.  We found Richard when we carried out an internet search for Maths Tutors, and he was the first and only one we contacted as he ticked all our boxes being extremely knowledgeable on all things mathematical and being flexible and able to fit a lesson in around our schedule.

Richard is an extremely reliable and patient tutor who is competent in teaching all aspects of the key stage and GCSE mathematics taught in schools.  He is happy to tutor on areas of maths that your child may have difficulties grasping, or equally happy to cover different areas each visit to give a broader understanding and knowledge on a range of topics from algebra to improper fractions, decimals to calculus.

Richard is friendly and approachable and immediately puts my child at ease, and encourages him throughout the lessons, using a variety of websites, books and mental maths.  My son is coping so much better at school in maths, but if he does get stuck on something he is unsure of, he notes it down and asks Richard to help him at his next visit.

Richard explains things in a way children understand and he will keep working on a certain topic until your child has fully grasped the concept and is able and happy to go to school, much more confident of being able to work out and achieve the correct answers.

My son has just graduated from year 8 and got a pass with honours for outstanding progress, which includes in mathematics, and he never would have been able to achieve this without a little extra one-to-one teaching on the areas he finds difficult.

We will definitely be continuing with our weekly tutoring lessons with Richard next school year, and I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this calm, understanding and competent teacher who has helped my son not to fear maths but to have a better understanding and belief in maths, and accept that it is ok to make a mistake, but also to find out how and where you are going wrong and how to correct yourself."

Indeed, my son always says “Why isn’t Richard a teacher, he is so much better than mine”.!!
